SVS chronology: 2001-2008

Sofia-Varna-Sofia 2001

The first 1200k in Eastern Europe

For the first time we have participants from abroad and some great results

Above: Sofia-Varna-Sofia 2004

11 starters, 1 French and 1 American. New SVS record time of 67 hours set by Richard Leon. Youngest ever finisher and oldest ever starter. For the first time we had a finisher on MTB!  Total climb was less than in 2001 and 2002: 10500 m. Roads were somehow better than in previous years. The big challenge this time was the weather: 30C in the first day, followed by 36 hours of continuous rain, and 8C in the fourth morning.

The best absolute time: 65:45, set by Christian and Ferdinand, but it is relatively the 4th ever result if calculated by the comparative points system. We had the most grown-up finisher: Stefan Baharov, who will complete 70 years in September 2005, more than four times greater number of years than the youngest (17 y/o)!!! Weather challenge again, this time it was the heat: two days with 32-36oC daily!
